Suburb name change for Keilor East and Airport West  Printer Friendly

It is important for residents to understand that no decisions have been made yet about consulting residents on the suburb name change proposal for Keilor East and Airport West.

A report is being prepared by Council officers outlining all the information about what is involved in changing a suburb name including the consultation process and potential costs.

This report will go before Councillors on 20 October at the official Council meeting.

Councillors will discuss the report and potentially make a decision on this night about whether or not to proceed with the proposal.

If Councillors chose to move forward with the proposal, they will then decide on how to consult residents. This could involve an online and hard copy survey.

Changing the name of a suburb is a complex statutory process which needs careful thought and planning. More information will be provided to residents following the Council meeting on 20 October.
